Taking inspiration from a carefree life is the latest collection from Malaysian designer Khoon Hooi. These latest offerings embody sensuality, but with a light touch of glamour and sophistication.
Setting the mood are the vibrant hues visible throughout the collection. Think of sweet colours like juicy watermelon, sunny pineapple, blush pink, cool mint and bright tangerine.
The prints selected for Spring 2019 are from rich brocades. They come dressed in lush hojas (leaf), rayas (stripes) and cuadrado (squares) motifs, in variations of navy, mustard and teal.
There are also “tropical touches” that stand out. Raffia tassels for example, bring about a sense of whimsy – as are sequins in “fruity” clusters and bright jewel-encrusted florals.
Take a pick of fun, soiree-ready designs, from a voluminous midi skirt paired with a tangerine ostrich-feather top to a one-shouldered cocktail dress dotted with bauble tassels.
A banana-yellow column dress with bow straps sizzles, while a statement-making ball gown is finished with asymmetrical necklines, perfect to show-off sun-kissed shoulders in.
Looking for an outfit that is a touch more dramatic? There is the palazzo pants detailed with side sculptural ruffles. Maybe even a shirt embellished using oversized bejeweled floral buttons.
