With this collection, Khoon Hooi perfectly captures the essence of the qipao, and combines traditional craftsmanship with modern digital printed satin and other luxurious fabrics. Brocades are adorned with traditional Chinese motifs such as the crane, bamboo, peony and plum blossom, standing out against strong pastels of lime green, lilac, blush pink and aqua. Lace - ever-present throughout the collection, comes in different variations - corded, knitted and always French. Looser fits have also been added to the collection; a cropped palazzo pant is paired with a belted top in royal yellow brocade, while an exaggerated trapeze dress retains the signature qipao craftsmanship and adorned with floral fabric buttons and brocade.
